Boating around Bali is an amazing way to spend a day or two until an unfortunate mishap turns into a medical emergency. BIMC urges boaters and boating companies to stay safe when on the water and to have a thorough understanding of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills by signing up for one of its first aid courses. One such company, Bali Boat Trip and its Director, Russell Fleming, saw the need for 20 of its staff to take the course December 2.
Some of BIMC’s course content includes:
- Assessment of needs of ill or injured persons and threats to own safety
- Appreciation of body structure and functions
- Managing broken bones, sprains, snake bites and choking
- Dealing with an unconscious person
- Resuscitation techniques (including CPR C)
- Controlling bleeding
- Management of shock
- Burns, scalds, and injuries caused by electricity
- Rescue and transport of injured person
- How to effectively make an emergency call
