When getting to care can’t wait.
BIMC provides medical evacuation via two options — commercial flight, and Medevac (Helivac & air ambulance). With years of proven experience across countries, our dedicated team ensures a smooth, well-coordinated process from first call to safe arrival. BIMC coordinates ground, helicopter and air-ambulance transfers 24 hours a day.
What is medical evacuation?
Medical evacuation is the step that follows first aid — safely transporting a patient to a facility where they can receive proper, thorough treatment. Done well, it significantly improves recovery and survival.
It matters most for travellers and anyone far from a medical centre when an emergency strikes. The destination might be the nearest hospital, or in some cases a facility in another country better suited to the patient’s needs.
Three ways to move a patient
The right method depends on distance, urgency and the patient’s condition.
Air Ambulance
Helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft for long-distance or time-critical transfers — avoiding traffic and taking the shortest route when treatment can’t wait.
Fastest for distanceGround Transport
A fully-equipped ambulance for shorter transfers to hospital, or whenever air travel isn’t possible — the most common form of evacuation.
Most commonCommercial Airline Stretcher
A stretcher or dedicated seating on a commercial flight, for stable patients who don’t need immediate treatment but require care to reach a destination facility.
For stable patientsCoordinated by BIMC, from the first call
Should an evacuation be necessary, BIMC Nusa Dua handles every arrangement. Our emergency team assesses, stabilises and moves the patient to the right facility — with medical care continuing throughout.
Two things worth checking early
A little preparation makes all the difference in an emergency.
Choose a trusted provider
Pick a provider with multiple evacuation methods, the right medical equipment and a proven track record — it directly affects patient safety.
Cost & insurance
Evacuation can be costly, depending on distance, condition and transport. Confirm what your travel or health insurance covers before you need it.
