Known as lipoplasty, or “liposuction”, the cosmetic procedure effectively removes deposits of excess fat from specific areas of the body including the face and neck and can slim hips and thighs, flatten the abdomen, shape the calves and ankles, or reduce a double chin. The procedure is often ideal for localized fat deposits that frustratingly do not respond to diet or exercise. Lipoplasty can be performed on several areas of the body at the same time with permanent results. Because of individual factors, results of lipoplasty vary from person to person.
Patients are able to return to work in just a few days after surgery and resume normal activities usually within one or two weeks. Swelling usually subsides a week or so following the procedure, while bruising can last three weeks or longer.
