Held July 3rd and in its 7th year, the Bali Ocean Swim, organized by the Bali Sports Foundation (BSF) was held at Kuta Beach (at Bali Garden Hotel) with 1.2km and the 5 & 10k swims along the coastline as far as Seminyak.
All swimmers were monitored by professional lifeguards from the Balawista with medical and first aid support by BIMC. Bali Sports Foundation’s (BSF) founder Rodney Holt said, “the Bali Ocean Swim is a fund-raising event with proceeds given to the BSF swimming programs that help disabled people swim comfortably and safely.”
The swim event also provides greater awareness to the dangers of Bali’s ocean environment as many of those rescued each year are Indonesians and others on holidays who have little or no understanding of water survival techniques. “The Bali Ocean Swim has been an worthy event that provides swimming and water safety lessons for all people in particular the disabled and underprivileged children of Bali,” said Holt.
